32's too heavy for the tailgate?

Well, thanks to all that contributed! I have attached a few images in an attempt to illustrate what i ended up doing. A brief narrative was provided in my 5-21 post. Hopefully the pictures will clarify that explanation...

32's too heavy for the tailgate?

Thanks DANDOC! I will keep a close eye on it. FYI, I did get the spare mounted on the stock mount. I had to shift the tire up about an inch on the mount to get it to clear the bumper, so i had to fabricate a bracket to make it work. It really was very simple (used some plate stock aluminum...

32's too heavy for the tailgate?

Thanks REDWRANGLER02, WM69 AND BOUNTY_HUNTER. Those are great options. Based on your input, I think i will try to hang the wheel on the tailgate and watch closely. The brackets you mentioned on ebay REDWRANGLER02 look like they would work - and it is a pretty low-cost option. If i had a...

    Timing adjustment on MPI engines???

YJDAVE, Great thanks, that was what I was hoping to hear. I am positive I got the ditributor lined up properly for cyl #1 TDC, so now that I know I dont need to worry about running around trying to adjust the timing right after startup, while making sure the oil pressure is up, I feel much...

    Timing adjustment on MPI engines???

Thanks again MUD4FEET. Yeah, I do have a bolt and clamp at the base of the distributor, but you cannot turn it (the distributor) because it is designed to lock into a specific position (there is a guide-hole on the flange of the distributor that the clamping screw fits into - you simply...

32's too heavy for the tailgate?

Thanks DANDOC and MUD4FEET. The price of the bumper-mounted spare carrier is what gives me some pause as well. I think I may try to mount the wheel on the tailgate and watch it closely. Also, I may mount it such that the wheel just rests on the bumper (may be a little tough to close the...

32's too heavy for the tailgate?

I just put some 32's on my 94YJ and they look great. I have 5 so I was going to put the 5th on the tailgate. I know it wont fit the stock bracket, so i was considering geting the extender. However, after mounting these tires on all four wheels i realied how much heavier than the stock wheels...

    Timing adjustment on MPI engines???

OK, I have finished putting in the reman engine in my 1994 YJ (thanks for those of you who have answered my questions along the way - it really has been helpful!!!). I have primed the engine with oil (drill and a long screwdriver), cylinder number one is set a TDC, the distributor is installed...

    pilot bearing help!!!

60 Biscayne and Heydace - thanks! As it turns out, Jeep does sell the sleeve. You just need to find the right parts guy. After calling around a little, a parts person at a jeep shop knew exactly what i needed. He gave me the jeep part number and i dialed the jeep dealer - an hour later i...

Best way to clean the intake manifold?

OK, im about to put in the reman 4.0 in my 94 yj. One of the items the manual stresses is to make sure the intake manifold is clean so you dont suck in crap into the "new" engine and ruin it. So, anyone have any good suggestions on how to do this properly? I did squirt some carb cleaner up...
