    Reverse cut gears?

So the diff housing is what determines whether or not reverse cut gears are used? I'll be needing to install a new carrier in the front anyway b/c of the low gear ratio (possibly an ARB if I can bare to spend the $$$$$ on two of them). Tires will more than likely be BFG Mud Terrains, and I'll be...

    350 in YJ....what trans?

This isn't about your transmission question, but I would recommend going with full-width truck axles, with a dana 60 in the rear, to keep from flipping when pulling into a parking space and braking axles when stuck in traffic  For motors, instead of considering a fuel injected 4.2L and V8...

6' fenders? im looking for a good place to buy flares

I don't know about other places, but in California the tire's tread cannot stick out past the fenders and mud flaps are required if the body is 18" or more from the ground. No one follows this, though, and no one gets in trouble. I think the Police and CHP just love our modded Jeeps too much to...

    Reverse cut gears?

OK, I already bought a set of standard cut gears for the rear dana 44 for my CJ, and am looking to buy a set of gears for the front d44 now, too. I know that reverse cut is stronger than standard when used in the front, but can reverse cut be put in just any front axle? Or if the axle came with...

    Any advice before I Herculine?

Put on some por-15, $30 for a quart, and it will never rust ever again.

    por-15 undercarriage/suspension questions

Don't paint anything that would be affected by the solvent in the por-15, such as rubber boots or bushings. Other than that, just follow the por-15 directions.

    centerforce II clutch question

I just bought a dual friction go behind my stroker. Centerforce clutches are not supposed to affect pedal pressure, as they use a special weight system to increase contact pressure. I would have to disagree that upgraded clutches are for modded motors only; maybe with cars, but not trucks and...

6' fenders? im looking for a good place to buy flares

What part of California are you in? My friends and I drive our Jeeps all over northern and central CA, a little bit of so cal, with big lifts, monster tires, stock flares, and none of us have ever had the police or chp give us any trouble about them. Fender flares fall in the same boat as mud...

gonna lift her dont know who to use

RE: Re: RE: Flex-a-Lite Customer Service About 49/50 posts on this board about Rough Country say that it is terrible. The guys at 4 Wheel Parts will tell you NOT to buy RC if you ask them about it. I have either ProComp or Rancho on my CJ right now (can't remember, the Jeep came lifted), and...

How to fit a big block into a YJ?

How would the frame hold up to that much power? If you go with the 454, a few things to complement the motor would be nv4500/th400, dual d300's, d60/d60 or d60/d70, 4-link, reinforced or aftermarket frame, stretched wheel base, 44" boggers complete cage, you get the idea...

    Gear ratio after lift

My friend's 4.0L TJ had a very noticeable power loss after going from 28's to 33's. I bet it would make a big difference if you regeared, I mean the 4.0L Jeeps already come with tall axle gears (3.11 or thereabouts).

new to jeeps....educated quesions from a novice.

    1. Yes, the CJ, YJ, and TJ are just different generations of Jeeps. The CJ is the oldest, then came the YJ Wrangler, and then in 1997 Jeep made the TJ Wrangler. The CJ and YJ both have leaf springs front and rear, while the TJ has coil springs front and rear. In order of street handling, the TJ...

    CJ7 trac bar fab

The rear will have an ARB, so it will be unlocked on the street. I will be running a shackle reversal. The way I see it, I don't even need to have a sway bar. That's how I had been driving my CJ around before the resto started. Driving on the freeway and curvy mountain roads scared the crap out...

gonna lift her dont know who to use

3" of lift will clear 33's. Rubicon Express, BDS, Skyjacker, etc. make good lifts. Procomp and Rancho are good, but their springs are stiff making for a bumpy ride. Rough Country is terrible.

Keep The Smog Stuff Or Not

The whole carb emissions system is a placebo. I will give credit to catalytic converters, but beyond that the emission system will actually not lower emissions that much. Pulse air? Smog pump? they correct for running too rich. If the carb is set right, these items will have a negligeable affect...

Keep The Smog Stuff Or Not

RE: Jeep recovery gone wrong. The emissions system was put on there with good intentions, not good reasons. Carbureted emissions systems are futile. If you desmog it and your carb is adjusted correcty (and is not too big for the motor), then the motor can easily run cleaner than a stock motor...
