If your Jeep has V-belts just loosen the top and bottom bolt on the alternator. It should swing toward the motor and release tension on the belt. If it has a Serpetine belt you will have to move the tensioner pully to release the belt.
I made my own hoist for cheap. I used eye-bolts through the celing joist. Used locking ratcheting straps. I just have to raise the hard top about 2 inches and drive the Jeep out.
What kind of Jeep do you have? I would check the front ball joints for wear. I would jack the front tire off the ground and push the tire back and forth......look for any movement at the knuckle.
I cleaned the valve cover and put it back on with black RTV gasket maker. The PCV valve was plugged so I replaced it. Letting the Jeep sit overnight. Hopefully there are no more leaks.
After a year my valve cover is leaking again. It is the 2.5L plastic cover. I could not find a metal one for the 4 cylinder online. Does anyone have some tips for sealing the stock valve cover? I used blue RTV last time. Would black RTV work better?

The old Jeep has been running fine up till now. When I first start the Jeep it stumbles and then comes up to idle. It then idles and drives smooth. I can get on the throttle and drive down the road without any problems. It just stumbles at start up. Any ideas?
I have the Dunlop Mud Rovers on my Jeep. I have been very happy with them. They do well off road and seem to get decent mileage. I am on my second set. There is also General Grabber MT. I have a buddy who has them on his Jeep. They also seem to be a good tire.
No. The gap was fine. I used my feeler gauge and set them to .035. The Bosch plugs themselves were terrible. The Jeep would run rough with them. I went back to Champion plugs and all problems went away.
Several years ago I changed spark plugs in my 2.5L Jeep YJ. I got the Bosch plugs and double checked the gap. They were terrible. The Jeep would run rough and not idle. I went back to Champion plugs and never had another problem.
Who actually uses a winch cover? I have the Smittybilt winch and cover. The cover faded and tore after 8 months. Should I get a better cover or just leave it off?
Some years ago I purchased the Bosch performance plugs. I thought they would be better due to the higher price. My 2.5L Jeep ran terrible with them. It would not idle. I purchased the basic Champion plugs (much cheaper) and it ran smooth. In my case cheaper was better.
The wife has a 2004 Grand Cherokee. It has Mastercraft tires on it and they suck. They are supposed to be a 60,000 mile tires. After 35,000 miles they are worn out. I have rotated them every 5000 miles. The tread is about gone. I have had 2 flats. Now there is a small bulge in one of the...
I am going to Jeepfest in Canfield, OH this weekend - July, 25. I took the family last year and it was great. There were lots of Jeeps and trucks to look at. Lots of Jeep parts and accessories to drool over at the venders booth.
