    Difference in Models

A good resorce is www.jeepz.com. Oh wait that is were you are. The differance between a CJ7 and a CJ7 is the length. The 7 is like 10" longer. If you look at my sig I have a CJ5 You can see the door looks like an s shape. The 7 has a door similar to a Wrangler. The CJ5 is a lot tighter I...

    CJ/YJ hard tops

Get a tube of silicone and use the other money for a mod. You should be able to seal it up with a tube or two of translucent silicone.

How to install Smittybilt Side Steps

I have installed them on ford trucks. Not sure of the brand. I am sure there will be good instructions. It is a lot easier if you have a good jack to lift it while you make mesurements and prep work. Most of the ones I installed had to have holes drilled in the frame. I know a lot of...

    Bad Jeep Dealer

This guy was just blowing off steam because he probably did not do his research and then got screwed. Dealerships will make whatever money they can get away with. If you go in educated you can almost always get a good deal. The thing people do not understand is that they have to make money...

    1987 wrangler odd?

That just means the manufacture did not do their research. My 94 Blazer falls in the same catagory. It is the last year of the S-10. They took the Blazer badge after that and redesigned it. You just have to know what it is and if they do not have your year you can usualy just tell them one...

    Jeep Culture

I agree with those before me. I would like to add that those who end up keeping jeeps seem to be of a differant nature than those who own one then get rid of it. They are not the most comfortable things in the world and I think a little humility is brought by this. You have to love your jeep...

Steering Shaft Seal Replacement/Pitman Arm Nut Removal

I have a rebuild kit for my stearing box I am just to lazy to do it. It only leaks a little. As far as the pitman arm nut I had to use an impact to get it off. Mine was on the floor at the time. You should be able to use a breaker bar to get it off. To get the pitman arm off I tightened up...

    gas can mounts

I have the same problem. I have been wondering if they will fit the skinny way next to the tire. I have seen them that way, but have not seen how they are mounted.

Where to buy a lug nut??

I have had a broken stud on my spare the entire time I've owned it I am too lazy to replace the stud. Never had a problem with it. I got some from the tire store when I got the tires. They charged me $1.00 each but I think is you just need 1 they will probably just give it to you.

    differential questions

Factory limited slips are not very tight. They should not chatter because otherwhise soccer moms would have a fit with the noise. I have only seen inside my 2 model 20's but I would think you could see the spiders if it was open. If not it should be a solid unit. Just an assumption somebody...

    cj gear questions

You need to put one tire on a slippery serface and one on a hard surface then see if both spin. If both wheels have the same traction they will both spin. You can get on dirt and turn while hitting the gas and then you can sometimes find out if it is an open differential. If I were you I...

A little help from my friends?

gas can mounts 5 is nice but when engines sit the seals dry out so for a 13 year old jeep with that low of miles you may be looking for trouble. It depends on how often it was started to lubricate everything. If you do not mind a 4 cyl I would go with 1 or 2 both are 95's and both have...

    SUBMERGED JEEP

I am pretty sure that they will tell you that you should have had it off and in gear. Drum breaks are made to stop the vehicle going forward not backword. The shoes are directional. I am sure they will quote something in the manual saying like always leave your vehicle in first gear or...

    Brakes and transimission questions.....

I will usually hit the front, and back with the hammer then tap around. My theory is that it moves the shoes in a little, and breaks up the rust. I am not sure it this is correct of not but it always works.
