    Dana 30 questions

Hello. My 1975 CJ5 has a dana 30, warn locking hubs, drum brakes. The Ujoint that connects the front axel to the front wheel is bad. Looking for the part on quadratec, I realize I don't even know what it is called. couple questions: what is it called :) can the u joint be replaced, or do I...

    What dash do I have?

Quadratec has the knobs, I got them for a few buck each. I called, and the tech guy found them. As far as the light up indicators above the knobs, they have all but the hazards. I still haven't found that one.

CJ 5 as a daily driver?

I have a 75 CJ5 with a 3 speed and a 304. I use mine as a daily driver when the weather is nice (it doesn't have a top). Some issues: Poor gas economy, no storage space. It has a rough ride, and you really have to respect it because it doesn't stop or turn like a car. It isn't very good on the...

    found a 1963 cj5 for sale...Q's

Check out earlycj.com , great site. Your wife must be tough to want an old Jeep, mine seldom likes to ride in my CJ, and would never consider driving one herself. Perhaps we could swap...

    304 4v

I would suggest that you go with the smallest 4 barrel that will fit. The 304 is not a high RPM motor and does not require a lot of carb. There are charts that you can find on line that can tell you the correct CFM. Here is an example. http://www.4secondsflat.com/Carb_CFM_Calculator.html Your...

    CJ7 vs YJ vs TJ

Nice responce Boze! I would beg to differ with one point, however. If your CJ is 76 or later, parts are everywhere. Heck, I could, assuming I had the money, talent, and time, build a CJ-7 from scratch with parts from companies like Quadratec, 4wd, etc. I admit that my Jeep, a 1975, sometimes...

    What dash do I have?

Thanx MNTrailboss. Clean looking Jeep! that does look like my dash, though yours is nicer. I assume you added the gauges on top on either side of the speedo, as i have the ones on bottom only. Funny, I have not been able to find any pics of this dash layout on the net. To the top right of...

    What dash do I have?

I have a 1975 CJ5. I want to return the dash to original, but I'm having problems finding usable pics. on the net. Here is a link to the only one I could find that looked like mine: Daisy's Jeep, 1/25 - HazzardNet Gallery I have the speedo bracketed by two gauges like in the pic. My fuel gauge...

    CJ7 vs YJ vs TJ

Go with the CJ, you will have a piece of history, and as you say, much easier to work on. If my CJ breaks down, I fix it. If a late model (read computerized) Jeep breaks down, I take it to the shop.

    1974 CJ restore project

Not to sound mean, but that's a parts vehicle at best. Do youself a favor and spend the money on something in better shape to fix up. This Jeep will nickle and dime you to death, and will be very frustrating. If you do decide to continue, best of luck.

3 point seat belts in CJ

Hello. Question for you guys. My 1975 CJ5 currently has lap belts only. I bought 3 point ones from Quadratec. I will confine the question to the drivers seatbelt for clarity. My original belt has one mounting place with the retractor on the drivers left side. I know about the part that goes on...

    Fenderwell headers

I have had both types of headers on V8 CJ's. Here are my pros and cons. First, I agree with John above that headers are more trouble, they tend to burn gaskets, have to be retightened from time to time, and cause more under hood heat. The heat, for me is not a problem, as there is a lot of...

    Fuse box question 1975 CJ5

My 1975 jeep CJ dash lights quit at once the other day. The fuse box is so old that I can't tell which fuse would go to the dash lights. If anyone has a a similar fuse box, I would appreciate knowing which fuse goes where. Also, do they have a common ground? Everything else, the gauges, the...

    Choke question

I have a motorcraft 2100 carb on my Jeep. The choke is bi metal. My choke does not work. It appears to have all the parts and they appear to be set up right. On the side it has a cannister with arrows that say lean and (if i remember) rich. I took this off and turned the spring, and it appears...
