    paint on bedliner questions

Rhino is kinda like a gritty soft plastic, if that makes sence. I think you have to spray it, not sure. I called a local shop that does rhino. They said that they can do 10 trucks in the time it would take them to do my Jeep. They don't even want it unless I do all the prep work (to include...

    paint on bedliner questions

Thanx again. I'm gonna look for something softer for the kids to rub up against! It does sound like a good deal, though.

    paint on bedliner questions

Thanx Jeeper99. Can you tell me what it feels like? I don't want a sandpaper feel. Prefer something softer like the rhino as sometimes we are barefoot, and passangers will put their arms on it (sides of back seat). Is it thick enough to totally waterproof the metal? I guess with enough coats it...

    paint on bedliner questions

Other Jeep came with Rhino. I liked it a lot, but I hear it's expensive. You probably lookin around $500.00 to get it professionally sprayed on a Jeep.

    paint on bedliner questions

Has anyone tried this? Wondering if it's any good. Found it for $45.00 a gallon. BedLinerGallon Surface Compatibility It says that you have to put it on factory finish. My Jeep interior is Rustoleum flat paint, I'm thinking it may be a problem? Is there something else in this price range...

    I6 or V8

Not to disagree with everyone, but since your jeep had the I6 offered as well, if you can find a doner vehicle with the same setup, then I would think it would be a fairly easy swap. Since it was a factory option, I would not think it would be a "hack job" like it would be with a V8. I prefer...

    Cj emergency brake

My 1975 CJ5 is missing the handle you pull to disengage the emergency brake. I have everything else, and the brake works, but I have to use a pair of plyers to disengage it. I'm missing the handle, and the cable that hooks it up to the bracket (only a few inches). I tried 4x4 and quadratec, they...

    1975 fusebox question

My 1975 CJ5 fusebox has several open spots where fuses may or may not belong. The letters telling what is what have worn off with age. Does anyone have a picture or something that could help me out? My dash lights don't work, and I'm not sure if a fuse is missing. I also can't tell if the...

    94 wrangler still missing

If it only does it hot, i would check for vaporlock. You may also try removing the gas cap while it's acting up. I had an old pontiac that would build negative pressure in the tank and that would relieve it. I ended up drilling a small hole in the gas cap to fix the problem.

    clutch linkage questions

I have a 1974 CJ-5 with a 304 and a T-15 transmission. I will try to describe the problem and parts involved, but I’m no mechanic. I started getting a squealing noise, kinda like a slipping fan belt while driving. It's not real loud, but irritating to me. This only happened when the clutch was...

    how many cj's running a 360?

I like the 360, but a holly 750 is WAY over carburation. The 360 would be better off with 600cfm or less. Here is a calculator for CFM. Most engines this old are less than the default 80% volumetric effeciency. Stan Weiss' - Automotive Performance Software / Interactive JavaScript to...

    Can't find insurance

I have a 1975 CJ5. I've called the major insurance companies, and they don't insure (were talking full coverage) old vehicles. I called some specialty insurance companies, but they all require a garage. All I have is a car port. I would like to get full coverage. Does anyone know of a company...

    Don't Panic......

Actually, I was at EBAY. A lot of old muscle cars have really lost their value. You can get a nice 1st gen camaro/firebird for under 20k now, down about 10k in last year or so. So, this might be a good time to buy that old muscle car/jeep you have been wanting...

    Want advice on mufflers

Ok, I have a 304 with fenderwell headers on my Jeep. I put some cheap summit glasspacks and have pipes exiting in front of the rear tires now. Problem is, it sounds so loud that I feel guilty driving down my street at night. I want some advice for replacing the glasspacks, keeping the headers...

    jeep wont start

Well, some friends from JeepTalk helped me do the work. The old timing gear had several broke teeth and some cracks. It had slipped a couple teeth. Anyway, We looked at the valve train with the covers off and were in agreement that I had been lucky and no damage was done. Got the Jeep...

    jeep wont start

Tore it open yesterday. The chain had a TON of slop, and one tooth was broken off, several more damaged. The timing marks look like it slipped 2, maybe 3 teeth. So, I'm now in total agreement with those who told me that was what happened. Expect my parts today or tomorrow, then the fun begins!

    jeep wont start

Here is an update. We think we know what it is, but still want opinions and advice on doing the job. Checked, engine. It has good spark, it's getting fuel, no vacuum leaks, electrical timing seems right. Cap, rotor, plugs, wires seem ok. Still would not start. Tried a compression test on 3...

    cant beat the heat !

Just a couple quick ideas: Just because you flushed the radiator, doesn't mean it's not clogged. I once put tap water into a radiator, and down the road got deposits that flushing would not remove. It ran hot until I replaced the whole radiator. Do you have a shroud? Did you put the new...
