Is the Webber really worth the bucks $$$

1044431 Hey thanks Chinard... I was pretty sure on that TBI thing.... But in response to your other question... Webber does make a carb for the older 2.5L. I did a search earlier on another board to try and find some info on it that I could relay, but I couldn't find anything. jim 85...

    real shwag BL

1044451 I've been hearing people debate the pros and cons of this for a while... I kinda lean towards thinking that its on the ghetto side, but only because I question what drilling a hole in the middle does to the integrity of the puck. Some people use boat rollers too (you can pick em up at...

    1973 Jeep CJ5

1044454 Couldn't hurt to try Jim at 2001 Jeep Parts... He's located in NJ and has tons of OEM stuff from way back. You'll probably get a better response calling though... don't know how often he checks email. good luck, jim 85 CJ[addsig]

Gonna get a hard top...will half doors with soft uppers fit?

1044511 The soft uppers are unfortunately not going to fit flush against the hardtop... I have seen the occasional jeep with a hardtop and soft upper doors, and while it appears that you can get the doors to close, the soft uppers are much wider than the upper half of full steel doors and dont...

How hard is it to find a cheap hard top?

1044554 I would definately keep an eye on the junkyards in your area... because thats going to be your only real chance at finding a TJ hardtop for cheap. The TJ tops aren't as interchangeable as the YJ/CJ tops and they're hard to find... I would try to stay away from those aftermarket ones...

    Putting On Flares?

1044650 You should be fine... 31X10.50s are only an inch wider than the 30s that came stock on a lot of TJs. jim 85 CJ[addsig]

I need Help with my CJ5

1044874 Which engine do you have? 258 or 304? I thought that the pre-1980 Carters were better than the later ones (like the one I have). If it is a bad carb, you do have some options. If its a 258, you can go with a weber or there's a popular switch to a motorcraft 2100 that is supposed be...

    Oil pressure?

1045105 Mine shoots way up to about 40 at idle on a cold start in cold weather, and it will jump to 60 or so iif I'm accelerating while its cold. Once it warms up it generally hovers between 15-20. jim 85 CJ[addsig]

    HOLY QUARTS OF OIL BATMAN

1045237 The 258 holds 5 or 6... the manual says six... but mine seems up to snuff after 5.[addsig]

    CJ vs TJ

1063045 It pains me to say this... but if you're talking stock, right out of the box, I think that TJ's are probably the best. The available coil spring suspension is a big improvement, and I can tell you that you won't regret having fuel injection one bit... not to mention how much easier it...

    CJ 5 Questions

1063062 I don't have any first hand experience with CJs that came with the Buick V6... but everything that I've read about that engine has been positive. Here's a link with a little info... Dauntless V6 Sorry, I can't help with the heater/defroster question.[addsig]

    Mopar MPI Question

1063664 Yeah, I would consider that if I could, but the weber won't get past emissions here in VA. [addsig]

    Mopar MPI Question

1063700 That's good to hear Jeff... I've read on some other boards that some people experience 'pinging' after installing MPI, especially if you arent running premium gas... what's your take on that?[addsig]

    Rear Seats and Hard Tops

1063799 Factory hard tops started in 76, the first year of the CJ7. I've seen a few older CJ5's that had aftermarket metal tops and doors, but its hard to say when that started. The rear seat has probably been around since the begining (even though it might not have always been there), I...

    Mopar MPI Question

1063823 Great to hear troy.... are you still using the 4.2L head? You guys are reinforcing my desire to do this... It is a lot of money, but I know that I will not be selling my Jeep anytime soon (or ever), so it seems like its worth it for the added power and reliability. jim[addsig]

My CJ7 1980 Leans to the driver's side

1064083 This isnt an uncommon problem, and I remember reading about it before. Apparently the ones that are least likely to lean to the left are the ones that came from the factory with the hardtop. The reason is because the springs had more leaves in them if they came with a hard top. [addsig]

    79 CJ7 info?

1058889 Yeah it is on the fly.... but on CJs you also have to lock the hubs. The transmission you're talking about is a t-150.[addsig]

    Clutch Linkage Woes

1059620 Yeah, I think they did a shoddy job putting the motor mounts in causing the engine to break the mounts and/or shift again.[addsig]
