Abandoned Scrambler

Some folks up the road from me have a Scrambler behind their house that you used to be able to see sticking out the front of an old barn. I stopped one day and asked about it. The lady that answered the door said it wasn't for sale. I left my name and number anyway in case they changed their mind. A few months later, they tore down the old barn and parked the Scrambler out back kind of going downhill a little. It's been sitting like that for several years now and what seemed to be a nice Scrambler is probably becoming a rust bucket in the bed.
It's ashamed. I've thought about stopping again, but need another old Jeep like a hole in the head. It is/was the Charcoal grey color with silver lettering, black hardtop and 8274 perched on front. It doesn't appear to be lifted, but maybe a little larger than stock tire.
Maybe I should stop and leave an anonymous letter asking them to please get that thing in some dry storage.

Tell them you are a Jeep guy and hate to see it go to waste, and offer to place an ad in the paper for them.

I've always wanted a scrambler myself.

The thing is that I really don't want one at this time. I might consider buying it and re-selling to someone who will take better care of it.

Some people just like having something that other people want. I searched and searched for a 50s ford pickup when I was in high school (eventually did find one) however a local farmer had one near his yard and I asked him several times if I could buy it and he always said no. Seemed the more I asked, the more he didn't want to sell it. Now, 15 years later, there's a tree growing up through the hood. It's ashamed.

ya know... i have a beautiful Rottie that i rescued when i really didnt want another dog - had 3 at the time.... and ya know... she's the best dog i ever had.. and the only one i still have... RESCUE THAT JEEP!!! - even if you dont want it or plan to keep it - you'll be saving something that you'll either fall in love with or be able to pass on to someone who will - like Panzer, my rottie... if i hadn't taken her in - she'd be dead now instead of sitting by my feet snoring while i type this... do the right thing.....
