Driving my life away... emissions trouble

Help!! My 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee failed its emissions test back in November and I need to get it registered proper!!!
My mechanic friend has checked the computer with his OBD2 meter and told me that it wasn't registering at level 1 and that I would have to put some miles on the engine to get it to pass emissions.
Previous to my emissions fail he replaced the power steering pump, although I don't think that has anything to do with the emissions.
So, since the end of November I have been trying to get the Jeep to register. I have put almost 500 miles on so far and checked with my mechanic at 100 mile intervals. What could be the problem?
Thanks in advance for any advice... much appreciated.🙏🙏

This isn’t a full story on what is wrong.

First what exactly did it fail in emissions testing? They need to disclose all failure points.
What work was done.
If it just doesn’t have enough data, either the battery was disconnected or a full overwrite was not complete. You just need to get enough miles to get a full write.
If its a code reader issue check fuses. Clean contacts and verify power and ground pins.
Any check engine lights or stored codes?
