80 cj7 had 2 months, tried everything. does not return to center point and it stays. steering wheel feels like tires are on ground even on jack stands power makes it driveable but corrections are jerky and over 50 scary. have done 2 reman boxes tried loosening both gets more slop thats it. did ball joints no change. all rod ends are free,axle u joints free took off dampner caster is 4.1 both sides, toe just set,camber low at 0 but tried 1.25 sleeves,no better. how hard should wheels turn with tie rod disconected? could both outer knuckles be bad? i installed both side ball joins by the book,it feels the same as the old 100,000 mile ones. help!

I was under the impression that the alignment of the wheels cause the to return to center.
