Rebels,
Rebel Offroad's Big Bear Forest Fest group #1 had the early start on Dishpan Springs. After a 6:30 Drivers meeting we were on the road headed for our trail at 6:45. Heading out for the trail was quite a bunch of capable Jeeps. Leading this year's run was the Poison Spyder JK and Bob Fryer. (aka Fryer Tuck) in the Fryer Engineering JK. Adam was in the Adamantium Rebel TJ Unlimited, I was joined by Madam Rebel (my wife Joy), our 2 Son and our Husky were in the Rebel Command JK. Mr Lika and brother-in-law Garret was as black and blue as ever and sporting his new factory 1/2 doors. George and his wife were in his new JK (The Old Puddlz JK) newly revamped. River Kid and his lovely family were there too and a host of other capable rigs. (Sorry for not remembering everyone)
We were on the first of 3 groups that were scheduled to run the Dishpan Springs trail that day. I have not run this trail in over 5 years so it was great to be running it once again. The main obstacle on the Dishpan Springs run is the waterfall. The obstacle is a large rock formation located about halfway down the trail. There are a few lines that can be taken although each of them are just about as tough as the other. One of the LJ's slid of the line while crossing this rock formation and we ended up using a strap on the roll cage to prevent it from taking a flop. The rest of the trail was scenic with enough obstacles to keep you paying attention.
Once we got to the water at the springs our group did a U-Turn and headed back up the trail. (Running it in the opposite direction.) We ate lunch and socialized at the waterfall as we waited for the 2nd group on the trail to all get down the face of the falls. Then it was our group's turn to head up the falls. Climbing the falls was a little easier and a lot faster then driving down.
We aired up the Jeeps and while most of the group headed back to Snow Valley aka base camp for the BBFF we headed for the carwash in Dearlick to clean the Jeeps off as they would be displayed in our booth for the rest of the event.
Great day!
Cheers,
Bond
