Spacer on Tire Mount

Good Morning,

I have a 2016 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited. I recently bough new wheels and tires for it. 255/75/r17.

I noticed when trying to put the spare tire on the tire carrier mount that the new tire will not fit. The studs on the stock tire mount do not seem to be long enough to put the lugs on to hold the new tire.

My question is would a Spare tire spacer work for this??

Any info and help would be appreciated!!

Thanks,
Jake

Did you change rims and tires?
What was on there before.

255/75r17 was on rubicons for that year.

You need to pay attention to the weight and torque on the body. Further out and or higher weight puts more torque on the body and hinges. Eventually they crack or sag.

The spacer might work, but it will move the mass out and increase the torque on the rack and mounts.
Too much of that and the rack or body could crack.

You want wheel metal to mount metal contact. If the tire is preventing that by contacting the carrier, the situation needs to be corrected...otherwise a slight loss of tire pressure will take pressure off the lugs and they could back out.
