i noticed that when i have my clutch out i hear a small rattling noise. It kind of sounds like a throw out bearing. When i press the clutch in, the sound goes away. Does anyone else have this problem? is that what it is? i know i will have to drop the transmission in order to fix it, but ive never had a throw out bearing go bad. thanks in advance!

It's likely to be the Throw out bearing as you presummed but it's also possible that it could be the input shaft bearing. Since your going to drop the transmission to verify the cause for the noise anyway, might as well inspect the input shaft and verify the trans. fluid is good and at the specified level.

thanks! the clutch and pressure plate were replaced about 6 months ago (before i got it) so i think it would be a good idea to drop the transmission anyways! thanks again

The T.out bearing should have been replaced with the Clutch and pressure plate including the pilot bearing..

thats what i thought too! and im sure that it was. But its really aggravating listening to that rattle. i guess this will be my weekend project! aint nothing like gettin greasy on a Saturday!
