    Help... still post-lift vibration

Ok, I am running out of options. I just put on my 3.5" lift and installed 32x11.5 mud rovers. There is a vibration when I drive over 30. I had a professional alignment done. I also changed both rear u-joints today - both not getting rid of the vibration. I noticed that I do have a crack in my...

    Do "hood scoops" work?

I noticed that I do not have a lot of vent air flow force. I also noticed that those cowl hood scoop things we've all seen in catalogs say that they improve this. Any consumer input on how well these work? thanks. jered

is it hard to change this seal?

How about that rear main seal? Is that a one-day switch-a-roo or will I need to drop the transmission to get to that one? In the chiltons it seems that it is possible to do it while just droping the oil pan and that plate thats up in there? Let me know! ('cause mine looks a tiny bit wet...ok...

yanking a jeep out of mud?

Another heads-up that I learned the hard way is that exhaust pipes = burnt straps = snap. Does anyone know of a good tow point for the rear of a YJ. The only thing I can find is the slot in the frame behind the rear tires which only works with a hook strap... ? thanks. jered

Anything!!! That you're willing to give away for free

Got some stock springs off the ol '91 YJ... I know they're not worth their weight to ship, but if anyone wants 'em! I am looking for a cheap old magnetic CB antenna. Already tried all the thrift stores and junk shops with no luck. Oh - located in Orlando or Vero Beach FL.

20hrs later:new 3.5" lift, some questions, and hurt all

Haha.. hopefully no worries from the driveshaft then. I did the speed test and am pretty sure most of the problem is in the alignment b/c at about 32mph in any gear it begins to shake and continues a bit even after I let off the gas. Is there any special alignment I should get or should I just...

20hrs later:new 3.5" lift, some questions, and hurt all

Ok, took it around the block and re-tightened the t-case nuts. While I was under there I noticed that where the driveshaft exits the t-case it now seemes to be protruding about 1.5" more than before the lift - I can tell becasue the new part of the shaft sticking out is shiny instead of dirty...

20hrs later:new 3.5" lift, some questions, and hurt all

Twisted - I see that you've gone with the same lift/tire combo that I am currently working on. I was wondering what other options you might be using besides just the lift and t-case drop... did you need a drop pitman arm or new steering stabilizer? Tomorow I am going to remove those t-case nuts...

20hrs later:new 3.5" lift, some questions, and hurt all

I got the t-case drop kit and installed it. Looked like about a 2-3 in drop. Maybe a longer axle or shims?

20hrs later:new 3.5" lift, some questions, and hurt all

Ok, so it's still shaking. I took a look around and made sure everything was tight. When I test drove it again I found that it really seems to be driveline vibration - felt most upon acceleration and decreases as I let off the gas. Should I do anything to the position that the transfer case is...

20hrs later:new 3.5" lift, some questions, and hurt all

Thanks Tug, Right now it seems that everything is together well. The thing I am concerned with is that it gets shaky around 30mph and up... no "death wobble" but just jittery. I do not have the 32" tires on yet, but will be getting them around this coming weekend. Could this just be the need for...

20hrs later:new 3.5" lift, some questions, and hurt all

Ok, so it was late when I wrote that: the shocks are Dick cepek "race series 88" hydraulic shocks. But either way they do not fit with the body mounted down so I reversed them. Is this a problem?? thanks. jered

20hrs later:new 3.5" lift, some questions, and hurt all

Laws in Texas... Hey everyone, FINALLY got a break from school and went home and installed the 3.5" Dick Cepek YJ lift. Noted some problems that were a pain. First is the shocks. I got the kit with air shocks, but they do Not fit in the rear because the shock body is too big and contacts the...

    Oil pressure running high?

Thanks JP, Will check out the pressure sender and pcv breather at the end of the valve cover, but don't think it's the oil filter (just replaced a few weeks ago). With the pressure sender: where is it? does it DO anything or just take pressure readings? meaning- if it goes bad can I get away...

    Oil pressure running high?

Recently in the last week or so I have noticed that my oil pressure is running quite higher than normal. I checked my oil level and it was fine. Any clues where to start? Might the pressure guage be going bad? Thanks for the input. jered

    NEW and improved starting problem

My '91 4.0L is having problems starting again. I got up this morning (it had rained last night- if humidity might have something to do with it) and tried to start it. It would turn over fine so the starter is working. But it never seemed to catch and start up??? I left it for 4 hours or so and...
