    need a lift.

There are many drawbacks to doing a spring over axle lift, or SOA, namely axle wrap which can be disastrous if you don't do something about it. A SOA lift gives you about 5", you will need longer shocks, brake lines, custom rear driveshaft, drop pitman arm, etc. and will be expensive and a lot...

Here is a good example of a traction bar: Anti wrap bar If you would rather buy one then samsoffroad.com makes a good traction bar

    York air compressor - howto?

I installed a york compressor in my 1984 CJ7 with 258 and it bolted right in using the stock brackets, the only thing I had to change was the pulley on the compressor.

    Please help, mechanical problem

Could be the fuel pressure regulator, or a leak somewhere in the system. SteelHeadz's post got me wondering, could the IAC cause problems even if you are on the accelerator? I'm having similar issues with my 1994 stroker motor.

    above axle suspension lift

Can you weld? If not, then a bolt-on spring under axle lift might be best. Rubicon Express makes a 4.5" SUA lift that is comparable in ride height to a SOA conversion; they also make a great SOA spring if you do go that route. For SOA you will most likely need a traction bar, longer rear cv...

Best Carb to buy for the 258

I ran a motorcraft 2100 carb from a ford 5.0 on my jeep's 258, never gave me any problems.

Can I remove the Pulse Air System?

I don't recall there being an engine-driven pump for the pulse air, but it's been years since I worked on one. If you don't need to pass smog, then I would rip out the miles of vacuum line, pulse air, carter carb, egr, etc. and install a motorcraft carb from a ford 5.0 and a GM HEI distributor...

    Handling issue

It's not that big of a job at all...my advice is to do what SteelHeadz said, but put your new urethane bushings in the freezer over night and take them out one at a time right before installing them. Urethane bushings have a tight fit but the freezer shrinks them enough so that they slide right...

Let's see some nice CJ pics please.

My 3-year project almost finished. All I have to do is install the lockers and gears, and figure out why the stroker motor is so temperamental (I think it's a bad TPS). Of course it will need bigger tires eventually...

    Need to smog in california

Oh God, I bought a 1984 CJ7 4.2 with all the smog stuff ripped out and trying to track down all the parts and make it pass CA smog was a nightmare. Doable, but a nightmare depending on how much smog stuff has been removed already. The hot air duct is for the heated air intake (yay!) that sucks...

    4.0L Stroker help?

I installed a 4.6l stroker in my cj7 and am working on the wiring harness right now. What I did was build my own stroker with a 4.2L crank, 4.2 rods, dished 4.0 pistons, and decked and bored 4.0 block. It ended up being quite a bit more expensive than a regular rebuild, in retrospect I would...

    what brand locker?

A front locker will affect your steering when 4wd is engaged, especially on icy roads. If you plan on using 4wd on the street, then I highly advise against an auto locker in the front. The Detroit locker is probably the strongest auto locker on the market, but lunchbox lockers like the Aussie...

    snorkel kit 88yj?

I would also be worried about an old carter carb under water...I do plan to eventually build a snorkel out of ABS pipe for my Jeep, but it is fuel injected. Not that I plan to cross water that deep, but mudholes are always deeper than you expect and I would like the peace of mind (and sometimes...

    what brand locker?

If you have the money then I would go with an OX locker. Everyone I have talked to says OX lockers are indestructible...the only issues I have heard of are the cables stretching after a lot of use, and this is easy to fix just by adjusting the cable. Lockers are generally more beneficial in the...

    1994 4.0 vacuum diagram--almost done with a frame-off CJ7 restoration!

yep, a 1994 fuel injected 4.0 (it's really a 4.6l stroker but the wiring and vacuum lines should all be the same). The CJ had a 258 before the tear-down...

    1994 4.0 vacuum diagram--almost done with a frame-off CJ7 restoration!

It's that simple? Wow, I remember how much of a PITA the 258 was when i had to re-do the vacuum lines. All I need now is the fitting for the power steering lines...c'mon UPS!

    1994 4.0 vacuum diagram--almost done with a frame-off CJ7 restoration!

I'm almost done with the frame-off buildup/restoration of my 1984 CJ7. All I have left is the vacuum routing and the power steering lines. I'm waiting for a fitting in the mail for the steering lines, but I can't for the life of me find a 1994 vacuum diagram for a 4.0 Can anyone help me out...

    RE springs . . .

The reverse eye just makes a more durable spring...both in sua and soa, and should yield good flex in both applications. It's not necessary in a sua setup, but won't hurt. The fixed spring hangers on CJ's are already wide enough to accomodate 2.5" springs even in the front, if you look at the...
