Idle slows way diwn when stopped

Thanks. I"ll see if mine has that filter. So that's a secondary filter? I don't see any lines pulled off. Maybe I'll just get a new fuel pump to see if that's it, or rule it out. Wife will kill me soon.

Idle slows way diwn when stopped

Nope, didn't have it before changing plugs, wires, distributor cap, rotor, or fuel filter and fuel hoses. So you think it's a carb problem, vice a fuel problem?

Idle slows way diwn when stopped

Does this sound like a fuel issue since it's hard to start and it starts to die when not giving it gas? It has a new fuel filter and hoses.

Idle slows way diwn when stopped

The smoke only happens when the idle slows way down and the engine starts jerking. Maybe it could be from the hose drone the exhaust to the breather? Could be popping loose when the engine jerks?

Idle slows way diwn when stopped

84 CJ7. Jeep doing it again. Idle slows way down when I stop and dies sometime. Tried to adjust it with no luck. When it starts to die, smoke starts come up from somewhere but can't tell where. Smells like exhaust. Runs fine while driving. When I start it, it sounds like it's need more gas even...

    Radiator overflow bottle

I have an 84 CJ7 and it has an overflow bottle next to the washer fluid bottle. On that not, the cap on it doesn't snap on. Should I get a cap that works correctly?

Carb diagram & heater hose diagram

84 CJ7. 6 cyl 258. Does anyone have a diagram of either? Choke linkage is just hanging loose. I can't tell how it is supposed to connect. Heater hoses have been cut off from the core and are hooked up to bypass. Need to see how they run to put in a new core.

    Copper or platinum plugs

It was the platinum plugs causing the problems. Just put copper plugs in and it's back to normal.

    Copper or platinum plugs

Hope everyone isn't tired of my questions yet. I put platinum plugs in my 84 CJ7. It is now running like crap. Read on some message boards to us copper plugs instead. Said platinum can make the Jeep run bad. Fact or not?

    Need aome help

Chiltons. All plug wires are seated and in correct position. It runs better, but will still die if you let it run without giving it any gas. I noticed the hose I put on that runs from the fuel line to the inlet Sid of the pump is slightly flat at the bend. I got the fuel hose at Autozone. Is...

Yep I gapped them IAW my Chiltons. I know I kept the order the same. Would a wire not seated well cause this issue?

    Need aome help

84 CJ7. Yesterday I replaced the plug wires; replaced plugs the day before. Yesterday I also replaced fuel filter and rubber hoses that connect the filter to fuel lines. Got in it this morning and it was idling low. Drove fine, but had to give it gas when stopped. Died twice when I put on the...
