Copper or platinum plugs

Hope everyone isn't tired of my questions yet. I put platinum plugs in my 84 CJ7. It is now running like crap. Read on some message boards to us copper plugs instead. Said platinum can make the Jeep run bad. Fact or not?

For high energy ignitions like that put out 40 kv and 100 mj the platinum work well. The copper work better with lower energy ignitions< 20kv .

The pt is to minimize wear from the high energy and waist spark. It adds. Bit of resistance that will be noticeable with low energy ignitions.

More importantly what brand model and gap did you use?

Check the gap and be sure none of the insulators are cracked

I have found that for some reason the older AMC engines run best on AUTOLITE plugs, Just a standard plug I personally never cared for autolites but ran them in ALL my AMC jeep engines and they are perfect.

It was the platinum plugs causing the problems. Just put copper plugs in and it's back to normal.
