Something wicked this way HUMS! ... and still no Jeep

When I lived in Northern Kentucky I remember when we were invaded by thoes evil things. I hated mowing the grass or using a weedeater caus they would dive bomb me. The local radio station there "WEBN" had contests on who could eat the most of them.

    160 T-stat in an 89 YJ

The raiting of the thermostat will not make the engine run at that exact temp. It only means that the t-stat will open at that temp. If you have no overheating probs then don't try to fix them. If you find that you do have an overheating prob then fix the prob. No thermostat will cause the...

Getting more tow weight our of a Jeep

Anyone going to the Jeep meet and greet this saturday? The short wheel base is going to limit your directional stability at high speeds. Another concern is the available braking power. Electric brakes will help with this. Pulling a 3500 lb Boat will not be fun.

    Lifting a Rubi

Yes, I have been looking and I think I will be saving up for a long arm after it is paied off. I am wondering if a spring spacer kit of 2 inches will make room for 33's on a Rubi.

    fan question

That is very normal. You have a viscous "spelling?" clutch not an electric one like on an a/c compressor.

    Lifting a Rubi

My Rubi has been begging me for a lift. When I first got it about 3 months ago my answer was, "no!" But now since the begging persists I think that she is starting to change my mind. I drive mainly on the road to and from work. Have been off road a few times but nothing hardcore. Once it is...

1973 super jeep id and '77 swap

Will This Disconnect Fit My TJ? I don't know that much about what Jeeps are collectable but it sure sounds like you have found something special. I don't think I would be able to change anything on it. If it is as nice as you say then it is a very rare find indeed. I would bet money that...

    Building a trailer

Yes I have seen the M416 Jeep trailer. My uncle has one that his faher got in the late 40's. It looks a bit different though. It has a metal tag on it that states it is a 1/4 ton made by the Bantam co. It looks to have full floating axles but the hitch has been changed to a ball type. Looks like...

    hi-temp paint

Look to harbor freight for a cheep sandblaster. You can go to the hardware store and buy the sand. Sand is cheep stuff just make sure that it is sandblasting sand. The moisture that builds up in your airlines will cause you probs while sandblasting. Do yourself a favor and get a cheep inline...

    hi-temp paint

To clean your compressor you can use a bit of carwash soap and a small stiff brush and water. make sure that all ports are sealed and don't submerge the thing. If it is really dirty you cn use some engine degreaser. then the soap and water. Sand blasting will require an aircompressor and a...

    hi-temp paint

What you have described sounds like some kind of do it yourself powdercoating. As far as answering your question regarding what kind of paint to use you can get away with any type of spray paint for metal. Just make sure that it is clean. It does not have to be a high temp paint. The compressor...

    Building a trailer

another dumb ? I want to build a new trailer for use with my Jeep. I am thinking about using a Lunette eye on the toung and a pintle hook instead of a ball. I am tired of people wanting to barrow my trailer and bringing it back broken. Also tired of having to go to a friends house to get it...

    hi-temp paint

The only way to find out for sure if your paint job will work is to test it. Put it on, I am sure that it will be just fine. The imporntant thing to remember is to start with a clean dry surface with no wax or oil on it. Once in the engine compartment it will be subjected to some high temps. not...

    Rubicon / H2

I am sure that many people on here are not going to like this but if I had to get rid of my Jeep for another 4x4 it would be for a Toyota Landcruiser FJ40 like the one I once owned, not a Hummer. I like the short wheel base and the affordability of making it the way I like them. I was actually...
