I just had the front U joint's and wheel bearings replaced. I still hear a clacking sound coming from the front similar noise to the old bad u joints just not as loud. Brakes are ok so what could this be?

Probably the same issue I had with mine last week, the thermostat was stuck open, actually it was broken and staying open. replace your thermostat and it should be fine, just remember to install it facing the right way.

Are all of your vacuum lines reinstalled correctly? the engine will lope and run rough or maybe a clogged pcv valve? have you had a compression test done since the head gasket was replaced?

Well after so much frustration I gave in. I had Jeep's Unlimited in Providence fix it. It was the ECC Computer on the front of the drivers side fender. So after all the BS and $300.00 later it is running again, at least until the next problem. Bill

I used the blue rtv sealant with the gasket and let it dry for a short, it worked well to hold it in place. Be extremly careful not to snug up the bolts to tight, they snap very easy with to much pressure.

Well it's fixed, it wasn't the CPS after all. I had a broken wire on the bottom of the distributer and get this, the major problem was a broken vapor vent on the top of the gas tank. No idea how it got broke and fell into the tank but it is replaced now and running like a charm. Thanks for...

Thanks for the info. I will try those steps on Saturday when I make time. The Trans fluid is clean and a nice red, but was also wondering if some junk or something broke loose in the pan and clogged something. This is very frustrating having to share only one jeep with the wife.

RE: On the road again I pressure washed the engine over the weekend and no my 87 Cherokee with a 4.0 won't upshift and stays stuck in 1st gear. Everything worked fine before the wash. I sprayed some quick dry around the TPS but still no luck. Any help would be appreciated.
