The Jeep is fixed and back on the road. Had the fuel tank dropped and new rear frame sections welded in and painted/undercoated. Cost me 200 dollars for both sides. I think that was a good price for a quality welding job.

I trimmed the fenders on my YJ and installed TJ flares. The plastic inner wheel well liners would no longer fit. I just left them out and sprayed the wheel wells with undercoating.

I had the same problem when replacing unit bearings. Found the dust shield was rubbing the rotor.

Installed a new bumper.

The rubber hose on the front axle/differential is a breather hose. the other end should be attached high on the firewall to keep water from getting in.

Thanks. I only put about 3000 miles on the Jeep a year. Mostly logging and power line trails around here. Hardly any rocks. Mostly hill climbs and mud holes. 3 hours fourwheeling = 3 days of cleaning. Washing the axles and frame.

Got a new set of tires. Maxxis Big Horns 35 x 12.50. Has anyone else used these tires? How many miles can I expect?

I have an Aussie locker in my front Dana 30. It works good offroad. No handling issues on the street. Can't even tell its there in 2 wheel drive.

I used the "Green Grease" instead. It seems to freespool easier.

I have the Smittybilt XRC winch and it is a pain to free spool. I searched online and found that this winch uses really cheap grease. I plan on taking it apart this weekend and cleaning out all the old grease. What is a good quality grease I should use? I was thinking Mobil One synthetic.

Looks like Quadratec sells the Crown Automotive windshield frames. 4 Wheel Drive Hardware sells Omix-Ada. Not sure if Omix-Ada is any better quality.

I shopped around this evening and decided on the Optima Yellow Top. Just installed it and the Jeep starts right up. Hope it will last with the winch.

My red top Optima finally died after 6 years. Time to replace it. I have heard that the newer Optima batteries are now made in Mexico. Many people on the message boards say the quality has gone in the toilet. What is a better AGM battery to use with a winch?
