AAL

Two quick question about add-a-leaf. How much lift could I expect to get from one? Will the stiffness go away after it settles? Thanks.

Gawd, on a YJ? I can't even think about it :D
Maybe an 1" not really worth the trouble.

I would do a 2" body lift then you would maintain that great YJ ride. Then add about 3/4" lift shackles. Probably the cheapest way out. When you have the cash for a suspension lift just leave the body lift in.

I did an AAL on my YJ using long leaves from YJ front leaf packs. Gave me 1.5" of lift with no change in the ride quality. Didn't really notice any settling as all the springs were used.

Be sure to use the top 2 leaves from 2 front packs as they have more arch than rear springs. This will also help ensure you get the same amount of lift all the way around.

Let me know if you have any more questions on this, I've done it on a few YJ's.

Re: RE: Old Jeeps are better!!

I have add a leafs in my stock pack and had the springs rearched equalling 3"'s of lift (actually the guy who gave them to me had it done). The ride isn't bad at all.

I did an add-a-leaf good for 2 inches... still holdin great

RE: Low on gas

I'll throw my $.02 into this and agree with Ritt. I'd much rather use a combination of BL and shackle to get the small lift, and then add some quality lift springs to that when you want to go even bigger.

I won't say it's a bad thing, just not my thing.

1.5-3" depending on the condition of the existing springs and the choice of AAL.

Definately get the longer ones for ride quality. I have the shorties on the back of my XJ, and they ride fine, but putting them on both front & rear for a YJ it might be rough with the short ones.
