Aftermarket alarm system

RE: Windshield wipers

Anyone have any advice on removing an old aftermarket alarm system. I have a 94 Jeep Wrangler and it has an old alarm system thats faulty. So far the keychain reset has stopped working and the system seems to malfunction and it just drains my battery. I am able to temporarily disable the alarm system but as of now I would like to remove the headache all together. Its the type of alarm system that disables the ignintion when set off. If anyone has any advice or how to approach this it would be greatly appreciated.

I had antitheft on my 89. I removed it cause it didn't work anymore. But basically it interupted my ignition wire under the dash. It should be a pretty "heavy" gauge yellow wire. Mine was cut and rerouted to a small black box with a switch, then routed back to the other end of the wire. So what I'm trying to say is, check your ignition wire under the dash for modifications, and return it to its original state (if it isn't alreay there). It should basically work on the same principal as my anti theft, accept it is the alarm system that activates it. As for the rest, I have no clue. lol :?

BTW, sorry if this doesn't make any sense, I'm just a little tired right now...

That makes perfect sense. I was going to try and do what your saying but I was afraid if I did this it would mess something up. I know under the dash their is a little black box with a switch and some wires coming off it. Im sure this is the box you are referring to. There is also a fuse under the box that if I remove it allows me to bypass the alarm to start it but then i have to reinstall the fuse so it continues to let me start it with the alarm switch deactivated. But like i said I would like to eliminate it all together. I figured thats what i had to do but wanted to here it from someone else and i didnt know if i tampered with it if it would have some kind of backup and really screw someting up.
