Anyone know of an aftermarket fuel sending unit?

I figure while I'm replacing my fuel pump, I might as well go ahead and replace the sending unit with something that works. I was talking to the owner of a shop near me that deals strictly in jeep parts...new and used. He says he's replaced his three times and they still keep going bad every time he takes it off road. Does anyone know of any companies who make an aftermarket sending unit that will work with my 93 YJ without any major mods to the tank?

What is wrong with your sending unit?

Many fuel guage problems can be addressed by cleaning the guages contacts in the dash, on the circuit board.

Been there, done that. I've tried cleaning every contact from the fuel tank to the dashboard and nothing. I know it's the sending unit but I don't want to replace it with a stock one because of all the problems people have with them. The guy that runs the shop that deals strictly in jeep parts says he won't replace them in his YJ anymore and tells people not to even bother buying a new one because of all the problems with them.

Never had a problem with them in either my '88 or '95 YJ. Nor have any other YJ's around here. I wouldn't put all your eggs in one basket and take this mechanics word as gospel.

I don't know of anything universal that would fit, I'd install another Mopar sending unit.

Is the sending unit available witout the fuel pump. In other words, is the fuel pump and sending unit combined into one component on a 95 Wrangler 4.0 I6?
