CJ2A Truck build.

Log time, no post. :lol: Anyway...

This will be my slow build of my CJ2A into a truck. It has been done before, Chad over at TheCJ2Apage.com everything about the Willys CJ2A Jeep built a very nice one.

Jeff ( inedjep) from JawzJP Customs is building a more modern one out of a YJ.

Anywho I am working with a limited budget ( as in none ) and working with all the junk I have acquired in the last few years.

This is what I am starting with.

The frame :

I have come to the conclusion that it is a late 50's/early 60's CJ5 frame that was extended 2 feet in the middle and 3 feet added to the end. For what purpose I have no idea and neither does the previous owner. He bought it from his neighbor and she cannot recall what her late husbands plans were for it. It was parked outside for 20 plus years under a tarp.

There is a lot of interesting items on this frame.

I had a CJ2A that was beyond rebuilding as the rust claimed a lot of it.It was cut up and the pieces I saved went on the frame to see if it would work. ( first 3 photos)
I started work on the frame, cutting the 3 feet overhang of the rear

The first photo shows the tub I am going to use. I the placed the rusty tub on the frame and....

Found out the frame was a CJ5 built in February 1960. I then put the frame in the garage and removed everything. I wire brushed/sand blasted the frame a painted it.


When finished with that, I placed axles under it temporarily, easier to move around. Put on the 33's and hooked up the steering. The board is there for my wife to stand on and steer when I pushed the frame. :lol:

The Last photo shows it next to my '47 CJ2A frame on 31's.

Well the body I was going to use was extremely rotted out with, loaded with bondo and many many terrible repairs ( that were also rotting.)

I decided to use my another body that was in much better shape. I will cut the floor out and use that for the rear of my '47, which did not have one.

This is pretty much where it is as of today. Working a whole lot of hours ( which is nice) but to exhausted to go to the garage to work on this. ( which is bad.)

Finally re-wrote it! :lol:

Picked up one the first sets of 4 inch lift springs for the CJ5, made by Rancho in the '70's. Also got a set of 1 3/4 cross braced shackles.


Other then that, I have done nothing to or for the Jeep...

Where it is a few days ago, A lot more metal has been replaced since the photo...... although still moving slowly....
