DANA AXLE?

I'm new to this site and new to jeeps...How do i know what axles i have on my jeep... Dana30, 35,44...? 02 Sport, 5 speed, 3.73 limited-slip

Crawl under jeep. On the differential covers there should be a metal tag with some numbers on it. You should see the 30 on the front axle. On the rear, you will probably see the 35, but possible the 44. Then you'll see some numbers like 3.07 or 3.54 or 3.73. I'd be willing to bet that you got one of those. If I had to shoot in the dark, I'd say D30 front with 3.07 and D35 rear with 3.07.

I think he was saying the jeep he has is an 02 with a 5 spd. with a 3.73 ratio. My guess would be a D30 in the front and a D"44" in the back... cause of the ratio you have. Hi_c is right though, check the diff covers to be sure.

Oh. I figured if he knew the R&P ratio, then he'd know the axle type too. Oh well. Yeah, if you got 3.73s and a 4.0, I'd guess you have the Chrysler version D44, too.

Dude you scored big time!I looked for a TJ with a dana 44 for months and never found one. :( You have a great platform to start from there. You can run 33's and still be strong.

Well damn i didnt even know what i was getting. I found it in Atlanta and it was the last 02 on the lot brand new. They knocked it down $7000 and i couldnt say no to that... I love it just dont know much about it or it's capabilities... i have taken it off road a couple of times and it's great. Would like to lift it and put some bigger tires on it!! What would you recommend??

well what size tires would you be looking for

that is a completely new topic, start another thread and you will get more traffic to your question
