I have been strugling to close my soft top on my 04 rubi. I cant do it myself. I have to pull the top forward while someone closes the latches. This doesnt work well when your alone. Does everyone struggle like this or am I just doing something wrong.

Yeah mines a pain like that too if you have it down for awhile.. to get it done by myself..i pretty much sit down in the seat, grab the latch..pull myself off the seat..push down and forward really hard until it clicks in..its hard to explain. I use to have somebody push on the back of the top while i latch it.

Ummmmm . . . . are your Sail panels attached??

Make sure your rear window and the Sail panels are detached and it should be free to allow the J-Hooks to latch. If not you need to take it to the dealer, you have something bent.

P.S. Other neat little tricks are in the Video

My 03 is very tight also you are better off to fut it down when the sun is still out.The best way I found is sit in the seat open latch as far as you can push forward on the top, before latching do the other side. Oh don't forget to use a few creative words that seems to help also.

I always do the front latches first and I have never had a problem getting the soft top closed by myself.

front driveline HELP

The new tops seal well but easy to close no way. I have tried with the windows off or on same thing. Hey exjay33 your right though the creative words work best.

heres another question from me the idiot about a gas tank

Mine as never been a problem. the higher you lift the handle the farther the J-Hook comes down. Make sure NOTHING is attached at the back of the Jeep. If your corners are connected then you are deffinantly going to have a hard time. I have a Khaki top on my 2003 and even brand new this (stiffer material) has never been a problem I even attach the J-Hook one handed. I have never had to pull down on the top to get them to hook. you REALLY have to have something attached to the back or the Tub or have something bent if it is causeing you any issues like that.

Dude,

My soft top is a Biatch, always has been. I use to use lots of creative words while putting it on. It's loosened up over the last year but still gets on my nerves. I store it in non air conditioned storage so everything gets bent outta shape and stiff.

The rear panels that come down the corners get short in the sun. I latch the top j hooks first and then go to the rear corners next. I stretch mine out though. Grab em up high and lean back on your heels while stretching that panel out. Works every time. Otherwise I have to do creative wrist twisting to get them on.

Good luck, you'll get used to it.

Lady, If you put one hand on the Top corner of the bow and press down it will make it MUCH easier to put the Corners in for you. ;)

Yup, just follow what L33T said. Hook the front first but don't close latches yet. Then do the corners pressing down gently on the top corner. I've gotten pretty good at it really.

Thanks for the tip L33! I haven't tried that before, must have missed that in my edumacation. lol I can tell you there is alot to learn about jeeps when your new to them, they are nothing like cars for sure.

I'm about to put my bikini on tonight, the weather is up in the 90's now, absolutely gorgeous and this is the driest spring/summer in years!

Hope life is treating you all well.

I thought those newer tops were supposed to be really easy :?

They are I can do mine in 4 min. You have to release the rear of the top, by the rear door first on both side (I do when I take mine down). Get the front hooks in the holes on the top of the winshield, do the rest of the top, then last thing should be fold down the latches.

Piece of cake.

I have a Best Top replacement (full hardware replacement, too) on my YJ, and I can take it down or put in up in under 5 minutes by myself.
