early to late 2.5 swap

Hello,
I've got a '91 Wrangler with the 2.5 liter / 5 speed. My problem is that the motor has played out. While I would like to go ahead and replace it with a 4.0 / AX15 trans. I'm afraid at this time I'm going to have to go back with a four banger. My question is concerning swapping in a later model engine such as a '98 - '00 which I am told will work but that some sensor in the head will have to have something done with it. Anybody know anything about this? Also I'm told that a 2.5 out of a Dakota pickup will work. ??? Any info concerning this swap would be appreciated as I am having trouble finding any decent motors with low mileage other than the later ones as I have described (I can find a ton of these at decent prices).
Thanks,
jeepnut :-? [addsig]

Check out the Jasper and other Engin Rebuilders for a price on a new rebuilt engin. I know it will be more money but in the long run you will be glad you did. Buying a used engin you are never going to know what you are getting into. Tug

Oh yea I just noticed this is your 1st post! Welcome and I hope you can get all the answers you need and give all the answers you have while here at Jeepz. Welcome and good luck.
