I have a tired 1988 yj with a 258 in it with about 150,000 miles on it. what would be the easiest engine to swap without breaking the pocket? Also the easiest period? Or are there any tips to pep that old engine back up to par???? :-? [addsig]

I would think that a 4.0 would be the easiest.... if you can get one... stroke it... you won't be unhappy[addsig]

the 4.0 will bolt up... its basically the same block... every AMClongblock I-6 had the same bellhousing pattern... I believe and AMC V8 would work as well[addsig]

it will depend wether you want to kept it as a throttle body injection(or carb) or if you want to switch it to fuel injection. The fuel injection idea takes a lot of wiring skills unless you buy a complete harness too. by complete i mean the front to back.[addsig]
