Finished Painting

Finally finished painting the Jeep and got it all back together. Actually finished 2 weeks ago, but finally getting around to posting pictures... All of the chrome is to go. Will be replaced with black (Wheels, rockers, bumpers).

Very nice.... what is that color called?

It's the Khaki color from the Krylon camo paints...

Also, herculined the tub when I painted... So far, I like it, but I'll have to see how it holds up over time.

I just finished herculining mine 2 days ago. The prep worked sucked, I had to remove everything. But all and all I think it will be worth it though cause it looks great.

Great color! How did you ger the decals off? Heat gun?

Yes.... a long process of a heat gun, scraping, and then cleaning to get the rest of the adhesive off. The hood took a while since the decals had been baked on by 22 years of the sun. The side went a little easier though.

did you use a spray can or spray gun? Nice looking job. I am planning a new paint job for my '81 CJ5 in the near future. NICE JOB!

A tip for all you that want to remove decals from your jeep. Go to your local auto paint supplier and ask for an eraser wheel. They are made of rubber like a pencil eraser and have a metal arbor in the center that you can mount to an electric/air drill. They work great and are well worth the money. The best thing is they wont harm the paint or clearcoat and no need to use any solvents. We use these at work (body shop) every day.

stacker46, nice color! Khaki is very clean and military. I think it's tough.

Used rattle can to do it. I was going to use a spray gun, but couldn't find the color (in flat) for it, so just decided to go with the Krylon paints.

I highly recommend getting an eraser wheel like whiterubicon suggest. I went the other route, and it was a pain.
