front end high speed wobble

hoobness

Hi
I have a 87 wrngler 258 some engine mods... anyway,

at speeds of 70+ I get this wobble just after going over the divots the plows leave on the highway. It goes away moments later, but the point is it shouldnt do that, it nver did it before say a few weeks ago.

The steering is tight otherwise, no slack in the wheel.

I worry that its a sign of something worse to come.
Im thinking maybe a steering stabilizer..?

I also get this rough- tiny but there- grinding noise when bearing left (putting force to the passenger side wheels) I almost want to say its a wheel bearing. but I never had to diagnose something like that, so I dont really know what to look for.

an help would be appreciated.

thank you

My buddy had the same problem. We changed the front u-joints and the stabilizer. After that the problem was gone. I'd start with the stabilizer, because I don't think the u-joints would have an effect on it.

Jack the front of the Jeep up and wiggle the tire while looking for slop anywhere. Grab the steering linkages and check for worn components. Look for worn out or split/damaged suspension bushings and loose bolts. The grinding sounds like the wheel bearings are shot.
