RE: Re: RE: A Gadget Moment

Well I thought that I had the right power valve for my conversion but I am not so sure right know. The local napa store is not the greatest resource in the world. When I got mine the one guy I trust in there was not in that day. Then I was looking and saw how many different ones there are.
Which one did you guys use for your conversion. I would like to know just to make sure.
Thanks

The only thing I've heard pertaining to power vavles is that one needs the one that opens when vacuum drops below 16 inHg. I'm almost positive that's right, but somebody correct me if I'm wrong.

i need some tech help

That is all that I had heard as well but then I did some research. There is not an oem dual power valve that opens at 16 hg. The largest single stage oem power valve is 12 hg. The one that cam in my carb is a single stage the opens at 6-7 hg.
The power valve is suppose to open when manifold va vacuum drops. When you accelerate you vacuum drops. If memory serves me correct most peoples max vacuum is around 15. Sometimes more. This would have the power valve open most of the time. A two stage power valve opens at two rates. when the first stage opens it is restricted allowing more full in when the vacuum drops more a second stage opens that is less not restricted opens. allowing even more fuel in.
I got alot of this info from this site.

What i think is that all the write ups you see which are either copied from the original or all done by the same gues that refers to the power valve as being marked 16. He thinks it opens at 16. What I think is that it is a two stage power valve that the first stage opens around 6-8 hg and the second opens around 1-3 hg. That is why I think it is marked 16. Maybe I am wrong.
I have found basicly four differant types with motorcratf part number
ce105 1st stage 6-8hg 2nd stage 1-3hg
ce120 1st stage 7-9.5hg 2nd stage 0.5-3hg
ce126 1st stage 8.5-11.5hg 2ng stage 2.5-5.5hg
ce132 1st stage 9-11.5 2nd stage 4.5-7.5hg
So I still don't know what is the best one. I thing the ce105 is the write one but still not sure.
Thanks for all the help

New socks and shoes for the Jeep

I ordered the Reman carb 2150 for a 79 ford pinto with 171 cu in. I had read that that version was the best to get. I am putting it on a 85 cj with a 258. According to napa it is suppose to have the yellow spring 6-7hg but it has the blue 2-3hg power valve in it but that is besides the point. I am trying to figure out which one would be the best for my engine. I was thinking that it would be the ce105 1st stage 6-8 then 2nd stage 1-3 but I don't know if I am right. Thanks for all the help
