Please Help!! "NO BUS" ERROR

Please help a lady out....

I have a 2000 Wrangler Sport 6 cylinder. For the past month I have been receiving a message where the mileage would normally be...it reads "NO BUS". When it reads this....most of the gauges stop working, including the speedometer and tachometer. I am not mechanically inclined, so hopefully this will not be too hard to correct.

I am new to the Jeep scene, I have always admired them.....just recently purchased this Wrangler. Soon, I hope to lift it so I can offroad.

Sorry if I sound silly but what is a YJ and TJ? I know what a CJ is.

Sounds like the connector for the instrument cluster. There may be a TSB on it, there was for my 99. The dealer repaired it.

Oh,
YJ= 87 through 95 Wrangler, square headlights, leaf springs
TJ= 97 through 06 Wrangler, round headlights, coil springs, airbags

you don't need to lift it to go off roading
very true.

Your problem is a common one. a WHACK! on top of the dash above the cluster will restore your instrument cluster. The problem is a poor connection in a wire harness plug. It's a good bit of work to fix it. I always hit the dash. Sometimes it lasted for months, sometimes it needed another hit within seconds.
