Shocks

Recently while I was in Dallas, I was shopping around for shocks. Just out pure desperation, I called Autozone. I have a 4" lift on my TJ. The salesman informed me that they carry a shock that can go on a 2 to 6" lift. Has anyone heard of a single shock that can adjust like that and are they worth anything? I decided to go with the Procomps made for my lift. I was just wondering if these were real or its just another idiot working at Autozone.

It's pretty common to just list a range of heights, makes more sence to manufacture one shock that fits multiple applications then to make one shock for every application.

My thinking was if you put that shock on a 2" lift, it would be really stiff. Then turn around and put that same shock on a 6" lift, it would be real spongy. That's just quite a bit of range for a shock to cover. So do these shocks actually work and good quality or what?

no, the amount of exposed shaft will not effect the dampening ability of a quality shock.
