No you do not need a new shaft. Just a new end to the shaft. I would cruise over to Keep-it-jeep. just south of 90th on state back in a dirt lot talk to Five(I don't know if that is his real name but that is what he goes by). I paid $200 and got everything. I did have to replace the high pressure line.
You will need.
Power steering pump, and bracketry
power steering box, can use old brackets, but I put in a MORE heavy duty bracket
Power stearing pitman arm(it is a differant size
high pressure line
low pressure line
and an end to the stearing shaft (splines just a little bigger)
Easy install I did have to do it 2 times because the first pump and box were bad. I think you could buy all new parts for probably $300. This is the best mod I have done to my Jeep.
