how hard is doing an sye on the stock tcase for an 89 yj? i have wanted to do it for a while, but opening tcases and transmissions scares me a bit...

It's pretty easy, learned to do it the first time on my own. You'll need a good pair of splitring pliers (mine are Craftsman).

You'll need a 12pt. 10mm socket for one of the bolts that hold the two case halves together, the rest are 15mm. I always replace the 10mm bolt with a 15mm bolt when I reassemble so they're all the same.

When reassembling and you've got the two case halves together, use a small pic (similar to a dental pic) to ensure the oilpump pickup tube is fully seated in the pump. Also don't forget to install the shiftrail spring.

when i open it up, it goes output shaft up? do i have to worry about holding anything in so it doesnt fall apart?
