sounds like a throwout problem to me.... when you press it, you are securing it to the clutch, giving it stability and holding it in place... when you release it, you back it away, and if the internals of the bearing are bad, then it will drop and rattle on the input shaft..... if you've ever changed a clutch, well... be prepared to do it again... if you don't think you can do it... save some money... it is just a matter of time before it falls apart completely or wears away on the shaft... though.... i HAVE seen some bad throwouts go for over 3 years, rattling the whole time before failing
