Displayed is a picture of what I believe to be the tie rod. I have a 2005 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited (Extended Edition) and need info on fixing it.

It's a sway bar link. Just remove both ends and replace .

How safe is it to drive on? I hear people disconnect them while off-roading and I am wondering if it will be stable enough for me to drive on it until the part comes in (3 business days).

It's a sway bar without them you have less stability when turning or maneuvering.

Mine was bad for a few weeks before I found the cause. Though I would not recommend waiting too long. If you want the easy ability to off road without them buy a quick disconnect replacement.

some cj,s didn't use them, but as mentioned driving with out one will be less stable. You should be fine until the new one comes in as long as you don't take any fast turns. As mentioned, there are disconnects that you can buy that you just pull a couple pins to disconnect the sway bar for off roading, reconnect, put the pins back in for road use, no tools needed.
