Tire carrier fitment

Will the swing out tire carrier and traction bars from an 87 fit an 81 CJ7, Need the tire rack fitment most of all. the traction bars come with the rack If they fit I'll use them If not I'll sell them. If the 87 tire rack wont fit what is the issue with it. Thanks

I don't believe it will fit out right? Although the Wrangler and CJ7 tubs are similar, the internal supports would be in different locations. Although anything is possible with enough Fabing. Also consider that a CJ's tailgate opens downward and the Wrangler is from left to right.

The track bar I'm sure about either? The CJ's did not use track bars and have no provisions for them. Also the axle width are different.

So its only the difference of the internal mounts. If I took a metal plate and drilled and tapped some holes it might work? I can do that.

Traction bar and track bar are two different animals. CJ did not come stock with track bars and it doesn't help anything to install them.

I was able to compare the difference of the mounts of the tire rack. Don't want to do that much modding
