TJ heater problem

Hey All-

I recently bought a '00 TJ. I'm having issues with the heater (no A/C car). The car DOES get hot, however it does not seem to be blowing air out of the vents. It doesn't matter which setting the fan speed dial is set to. Any ideas on what this could be?

Thanks!!

Blown fuse or bad motor. Wiggle the wiring to the blower motor and see if its a connection issue , if not, check the fuses and test the blower motor circuit with a test light.

If you decide to change out the motor, you can remove it and hook it directly to the battery. This will verify if the motor has gone bad.

Check if the the comes out any vent. Dash, defrost, or floor vents. Can you hear the blower motor? What temp does your engine get too and how fast. It should run at 210 and get there within 3-5 min or 2 miles of driving. The heat should coming out within 5 min should get uncomfortably hot.

sounds like the heat ducts might of came off from the heater up to the vents and defrost vents, very common on cj,s. Look around your heater box and up under your dash to see if you can see if a hose came off, or even put your hand up there and see if you can feel heat which would indicate the hose came off. From your post, it sounds like your heater is working, just not blowing air out the vents.

it does run at 210 and id say in 5 mins or so. heat isn't coming out of any vent. i checked the fuses, they were fine. it does get hot after driving a bit, just not blowing from the vents...

Check the wiring to the fan speed select switch and follow tj through to the resistor and the motor. They (wires and connector) have a tendency to melt as the heater or resistor fail. On the highest setting the fan should run as it is a short with no resistor.
Check the grounds along the way.

Be sure to check the wiring on back of heater controls. That's where mine shorted and melted.

Just to clairfy, is your heater fan motor working or not? IF not, problem is likely switch, motor or wiring between them. If motor operates, you could have a vacuum leak that is keeping the vent directional doors from working properly. My '05 TJ has A/C but I had similar problem, right after I got it. Fan worked but couldn't switch between vents. I found a small vacuum hose had come loose. Reconnected it and all's been fine ever since.

i don't think the fan motor is working. i can not hear it at all. I'm gonna take it apart today as it is a bit nicer weather
