Yokohama tires

need space for tires, what's best?

Does anyone know anything about Yokohama tires? I found a deal on the 31x10.5s I want but they are alot cheaper than other brands. Specifically I'm looking at the Geolander AT +II. Are they any good? I dont do any serious off roading and do alot of on road driving(not proud to admit it). Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Window shopping with Mom...

my bro has the geolanders on his YJ and they are great for off road. One downside is that they are directional which isn't that great for Road use... but still a good tire and long lasting.

RE: sm420

If your talking about the directional Geolander that Jooper was referring to......it's a great tire from what I've been told by the couple of people I know who have run them.

I got 33x12.5 Yoko's Geolander mt's and I love them. people think that cause they only have 2 ply side walls that they are a weak tire, but... I run then at about 10-15 psi on a 15x8 rim and have yet to blow a bead or sliced the side wall. The down point of the 2 ply side wall is when you air down, you will loose more height than a tire that has 6 ply side walls.

My tires have about 15K miles on them, and I still have over a inch of tread left. great in the rain and snow on road

awsome in hard pack, sand, snow, and rocks off road. not the best for thick mud. a more conventional MT tread design would be more suited for the thick stuff.

These pic was taken saturday (12/4) In pic one you can see how much tread there is left pic two is a graded climb on slick rock, a clinomteter registered this at about 55 degree's at some point and gets very light on the front, but these tires grab hard and did not slip!

RE: need space for tires, what

My friends manage the largest tire wholesale warehouse in Western Canada. They all swear by the Geolanders. They're the top selling tire that they carry. I've been running Geolanders for almost 4 years now. Both allterrains and mudterrains (which is what I have now) and I have nothing bad to say about them other than they don't last as long as some other brands and they're a little more expensive than other brands. They're the quietest running mudterrain tire I've ever owned. They also handle on wet pavement a lot better than BFG's because they are made of a softer compound. You sacrifice a little mileage because of it being a softer tire for a better handling tire.

Over an inch  How much tread depth did you start with

Yoko MT's wear fast on the road due to the soft rubber compound, can't speak for the AT's.
