clutch troubles

I can't get my car into gear anymore, I had a little trouble yesterday and had to pump the clutch to get it to go into gear a few times, but otherwize it was working fine. Today I goto start her up and I try pumping the clutch for a long time and I can't get it to go into any gear 1st through reverse. Please tell me I don't have to replace my clutch.

check to see if there is any fluid in the master cylinder, I replaced mine. Got rid of sloppy feeling

When that happened to me it ended up being the slave cylinder in the trans. leaking... sucks if you take it to a mechanic :?

4.2 MPFI conversion help

so i took it to a mechanic today and he said it was the master cylinder, but for some reason on the jeep the master cylinder and the slave cylinder come as a pair, you can't buy them seperatly...all in all they said it was gonna be around $550, 260 for the parts + labor.

Some one is yanking your chain pal. You can buy one or the other and do not have to buy both. If you are going to replace the slave go ahead and replace the clutch while you are in there or else you will be doing that soon. Crawl under there and look to see if there is any fluid leaking around the bell house and transmission conecting area. If it is the slave it will most likely show some stain or drip there. If it is the master look inside the jeep floor area near where the clutch works through the fire wall and also look around the master under the hood for signs of a leak. Call Napa and ask fro a price on master or slave. Then find a wrench that will not try this sort of nonsence with you again. tug

Yeah, are you sure he didn't say that you need to do both your clutch & slave cyl. at the same time? That was the advice I got when mine went out. jered

Luckily for you the '93 YJ uses a clutch and slave like no other year, so be double sure you get the correct parts.

You'll have to drop the transmission to replace the clutch slave, so replace the clutch and have the flywheel turned down.

i was unaware that the 93 was different than the previous years... i know it is different from the 94 to present.... i was always wondering why that good price clutch guy on ebay always sold the -92 and the 94+ clutch kits

Well good news, dealer is covering it all, just gotta get it towed from boston to Rhode Island to get the work done...which is a pain in the ass but nothin beats free.
