Light Problems

What can I say, it's hump day

Last night I was coming home from work, and I switched on the brights on my YJ and about 15-20 seconds later my lights went out completely. That's not good on a windy stretch of road. I switched off my brights and my lights came on about 5 seconds later. I figure something is loose in the turn signal/wiper stalk, but my question is what is loose, and how can I fix it?

Lift for Comanche

Just curious...

Headlights circuits are usually protected from destructive electrical overload by a self resetting circuit breaker as opposed to a fuse. (For safety reasons)

Wondering if the circuit breaker was doing its thing and cutoff the headlights because of a temporary electrical short circuit?

I have had headlights go out while driving in heavy rain and snow storms.

Perhaps the lights came back on because the breaker reset and that was coincidental with your manipulation of the headlight switch.

Probably doesn't help much, but something to keep in mind.

Anyone know where to wheel in California?

Likely a bad headlight switch on the dash.

I thought about that Bounty, but they only cut off when I switch my brights on. If I keep my low beams on, it never happens.

Could be the dimmer switch - has super hi-resistance in bright mode to throw the breaker out, but OK in low beam LBR

RE: extra extra read all about it

Both of my low beam filaments broke. But they would occasionally bounce back into contact. I've been driving with high beams for a while. Though it doesn't bother people because it shines above most cars
